The Vodacom Bulls will play Namibia in a friendly match in Windhoek on Saturday 21 June, the Blue Bulls Rugby Union has confirmed.
The match will form part of the Vodacom Bulls’ preparations before the Vodacom Super Rugby tournament resumes in July and will also aid the Namibians ahead of their upcoming African qualifying matches for the Rugby World Cup next year.
According to the High Performance Manager of the Blue Bulls Company, Xander Janse van Rensburg, the Vodacom Bulls will travel to Windhoek with their strongest possible team and see the match as very important.
“We will have some players on national duty for both the Springboks and Junior Springboks and thus not available for selection, which will give us a chance to blood somenew generation players, but we see this as an excellent opportunity for the team to get some match fitness in ahead of the re-start of Super Rugby. We are playing in our away kit (green) and will treat this match with the same intensity as any match in the Vodacom Super Rugby competition. We are very appreciative of the opportunity to play and would like to thank the Namibian Rugby Union for inviting us.”
The Vodacom Bulls will travel to Windhoek on June 18.
Janse van Rensburg also confirmed that a Vodacom Blue Bulls team will travel to Port Elizabeth to play the EP Kings on June 20. The team will consist of Under-21 players and those getting ready for the upcoming Absa Currie Cup competition.
