Ross to lead Vodacom Bulls in Namibia

The Vodacom Bulls, who will be captained by Jono Ross, named an experienced group of players to travel to Windhoek to face the Namibia Welwitchias on Saturday. 

In total, a group of 26 players will face the hosts, who came from behind to beat the DHL Western Province in a friendly last weekend.

"That result certainly proved the quality of the Namibians," Blue Bulls Company High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg said on Wednesday.

"We respect them as tough opponents and will have to perform pretty well if we want to win. We are aware of the fact that we have a big number of supporters in Namibia and are keen to travel there, but we also know very well how tough this match will be."

The squad is: Bandise Maku, Basil Short, Bjorn Basson, Bongi Mbonambi, Burger Odendaal, Christiaan de Bruin, Clyde Davids, Marvin Orie, Grant Hattingh, Jacques du Plessis, Jacques Engelbrecht, Jacques-Louis Potgieter, Jono Ross (c), Jurgen Visser, Morné Mellett, Paul Willemse, Piet van Zyl, Rudy Paige, Roelof Smit, Ryan Nell, Ulrich Beyers, Werner Kruger, William Small-Smith, Sampie Mastriet, Travis Ismaiel, Juan Schoeman.

Kick-off is at 16h00 on Saturday 21 June at Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia

The Vodacom Blue Bulls squad to play the EP Kings in Port Elizabeth on Friday has also been named. The team is: Backs: Jacques Rossouw, Kefense Mahlo, Jade Stigling, Leighton van Wyk, Marquite September, Kobus Marais, Carlo Engelbrecht (o/k), Andrè Warner, Joshua Stander, Ganfried May.

Forwards: Ruan Steenkamp (c), Corne Cooper, Chris Massyn, Irne Herbst, Schalk van Heerden, Neetling Fouchè, Jan Enslin, Justin Forwood, Sidney Tobias, Andrew Beerwinkel, Johan Bannink, Jason Jenkins, Carel Swart.

    Gaan al moeiliker raak om jong spelers te behou. Salarisse kan nie vergelyk word nie. Tans is super15 jou persoonlike vertoonvenster vir die buite wêreld en 2jr se ervaring op hierdie vlak maak vir jou deure oop, veral as jy nie Bokke.gaan haal nie. Willemse moes myns insiens nou vir Bokke gespeel het. Hy is beter as Lood de Jager.

    Dit verbaas my nie. Na Willemse, kan ons verwag om te hoor Smallsmith en Wian Liebenberg gaan ook oorsee. Dit is die spelers met meeste potensiaal vir toekoms maar hulle word soos stiefkinders behandel. Hierdie spelers moes hierdie jaar maksimum blootstelling en ontwikkeling ontvang maar toe volhard hul met opsies wat glad nie werk nie. Ons kan nie die jong manne verkwalik wat skuif nie - watter boodskap word aan hul uitgestuur? Asb Bbm, skrik wakker voor dit te laat is! Jul sit met talent en leiers maar jul investeer nie in hulle vir die toekoms. Sorg asb dat hierdie spelers NOU goeie kontrakte kry!!
