On Tuesday 08 July 2014, the Vodacom Bulls invited members of their supporters club to join them for an interactive Q&A session. Members were required to submit questions for the team and coach concerning the daily operations and management of the team.
The Supporters Club organised an afternoon where members got the opportunity to meet and interact with management and the team.
The session was opened with a brief welcome by Lana Helberg, programme manager of the Blue Bulls supporters club, who advised members on the proceedings of the session. Blue Bulls Social Media manager, Shanil Mangaroo, MC’ed the event connecting members with the relevant stakeholders from the Blue Bulls.
The first participant up was head coach Frans Ludeke. Ludeke introduced himself and gave a brief description of the role he plays in the team. Coach was as per usual humble and engaging with the members. He answered every question with great detail and insight into the daily operations of the team.
Next up was Dr Jannie Botha, team Psychologist. He shared the role he plays with the team and went on to mention that psychology is all about a physical and mental balance when it comes to the game.
Deon Stegman (Openside Flanker) explained that playing for the Vodacom Bulls is more than a job, he does what he loves each day with pride. Finally, the members got to direct their questions to John-William Meyer, the technical adviser. Meyer deals with the general team analysis during games and ensures that all the coaching staff have adequate video analysis to work with weekly.
The session concluded with a team video of past games compiled and produced by Meyer. The members thoroughly enjoyed the video as it gave a different take on the game in comparison to watching it live. At the end of the session members were treated to Boerewors rolls sponsored by Crown National.
The Vodacom Bulls would like to thank all the members that took time out of their daily schedule to come spend an afternoon with us at Loftus Versfeld.
“We truly enjoyed meeting and chatting to the Supporter Club members, and appreciate the support they have shown over the years. Events like these will become more frequent as it allows the fans to get closer to the team” Richard Papo, Head of Marketing.
