18 July 2014, a day to celebrate an international Icon and father of the Nation, Nelson Mandela. This year the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd partnered up with Vodacom to do our part in trying to eradicate hunger in South Africa.
The aim was to pack as many buckets with food in 67 minutes for families in need. The BBCo decided to make a fun day out of it and take along some of the Vodacom Bulls players, staff as well as the Vodacom Bulls Babes - and the spritley Bulletjie. Naturally on arrival, the Vodacom Bulls Babes as well as our mascot caught the eye of all the volunteers.
The atmosphere was electric as there was music pumping and motivating volunteers to give their best effects in order to achieve the best possible results. Midway through the packing, the Bulls Babes performed a show stopping number that hyped the crowd even more. With the Bulletjie going around making friends with all the volunteers, the environment was relaxed and amped to the max.
We managed to pack over 6000 buckets doubling the previous groups’ record of over 2500 buckets. This alone set a tone and a mark for the groups to follow. Not only were the Blue Bulls packing for charity but they were also packing for pride and bragging rights.
“We feel very honoured to be a part of this initiative and would like to thank Vodacom and the CEO for this amazing experience. Hunger is a very serious epidemic in South Africa and we are very proud of the Blue Bulls team that came out here today to make a difference for 67 minutes. CSI is something we take very seriously here at the Vodacom Bulls and we will continue to do our best in helping those in need.” Marguerite Prinsloo, Blue Bulls Events Co-ordinator.
