The Xerox Golden Lions Under-21 team has joined the DHL Western Province Under-21’s at the top of the Absa Under-21 Provincial Championship A-Division standings by beating the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Ellis Park on Saturday.
The 40-29 win handed the Blue Bulls their first defeat of the competition after five weeks of play and losing their top spot on the log.

The Golden Lions handed the Blue Bulls their first defeat of the campaign with an impressive 41-30 win at Ellis Park on Saturday. The home side played with more purpose and drive and especially on attack, seemed to more hungry to reach the tryline.
Instrumental in the unexpected margin was Springbok Sevens player, Kwagga Smith, who starred as loose forward, often creating spaces and providing the linking play to outfox and outflank the Blue Bulls defence.
The Blue Bulls will also lament on their defensive effort, with a number of tries conceded coming from poor communication on defence. Their lack of creativity on attack was contrasted by the Golden Lions, who attacked from all over the field.
