Six changes for Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-21


Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-21 coach Nollis Marais made six changes to his starting team for Saturday's Absa Under-21 Provincial Championship match against the Leopards at Loftus Versfeld.


The Blue Bulls was edged out 28-21 by Western Province last weekend and need to rebound this week in order to stay in the top four and play-off contention.


Marais' rotational policy is again in force, resulting in starts for Pierre Schoeman (for Justin Forwood) at loosehead, Arno van Wyk (for Jan Enslin) at hooker, Dennis Visser at lock (for Irne Herbst) and Kobus Marais at flyhalf (for Joshua Stander). In a positional switch, captain Ruan Steenkamp moves from no8 to flank, allowing Clyde Davids a start. Jade Stighling also moves from left to right wing, with Duncan Matthews starting at 11 and Marquit September dropping out.


The match starts at 12h40.


The Blue Bulls Under-21 team is: Jacques Rossouw, Jade Stighling, Dan Kriel, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Duncan Matthews, Kobus Marais, Carlo Engelbrecht, Clyde Davids, Jannes Kirsten, Ruan Steenkamp (c), Marvin Orie, Dennis Visser, Wilco Louw, Arno van Wyk, Pierre Schoeman. Replacements: Jan Enslin, Dayan van der Westhuizen, Christiaan de Bruin, Chris Massyn, JP Smith, Ganfried May, Marcus Kleinbooi.

Liebenberg leads changed Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 team
The Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-19 side will see seven new faces in their starting line-up for this Saturday's Absa Under-19 Provincial Championship match against the Leopards at Loftus Versfeld.


Four new backline players have been named in the starting line-up, with six in the pack again wearing the same jersey. They are Xander van Wyk, Matthys Basson, RG Snyman, Menzi Nhlabathi, Calvonn Allison and Hanro Liebenberg, who will lead the team.


Winger Dimitrio Tieties, midfielders Jurie Linde and Attie Louw and scrumhalf Impi Visser will all start in this match.
The match starts at 11h00.

Wyatt Murphy, Dimitrio Tieties, Jurie Linde, Attie Louw, Duhan van der Merwe, Dewald Human, Impi Visser, Hanro Liebenberg (c), Allison Calvonn, Menzi Nhlabathi, RG Snyman, Burger van Niekerk, Matthys Basson, Jan van der Merwe, Xander van Wyk. Replacements: Desmond Stramis, Njabula Gumede, Stefaan Grundelingh, Jason Jenkins, Martin Groenewald, Matthew Alborough, Adrian Maebane, Thys van Wyk.

    Ek sien dat die 0/21 span met 15 log punte 4de in hul afdeling lê.


    Ek was dan onder die indruk dat ons junior spanne kern gesond is.


    Lyk vir my of iets nie lekker pluis is by die jong spanne nie.

    Ja die ding wat nie pluis is nie is dieselfde as by die senior span - afrigting!
    Nollis Marais kan nie afrig nie. Ek sien al elke seisoen dat daar geen game plan van enige aard by die o21's te sien is nie. Hy maak staat daarop dat die spelers op individuele wyse 'n breek of iets maak wat tot punte lei. Hy is ook seker die enigste afrigter wat met n ten volle professionele span nie hond haaraf kan maak teen 'n klomp amateurs/studente (dis nou "Tukkies" in die Varsity Beker wat eintelik maar die bulle se o21 span is).

    Dis hoekom ons spelers nie deurkom wat ons kontrakteer nie - hulle kom hier met die talent en vaardighede wat hulle het op skool, en dan so bly dit, word niks verder ontwikkel nie. Tog as jy kyk by die WP en Sharks, kan hulle n o19 outjie kies op Super Rugby vlak en hy kom deur.
