Player of the week - Rudy Paige

Player of the Week

A sniping break down the blindside in a tightly contested match away from home, great distribution, a well-supported inside run with another try-scoring pass to the outside. This was over in seconds, in a sweeping move that came from a scrum in his own 22 and finished, thanks to the finishing touches by Francois Hougaard, behind the Cell C Sharks try-line.

The man in question of course was Rudy Paige, scrumhalf of the Vodacom Bulls, who on Saturday in Durban, confirmed his serious credentials as a World Cup contender.

What made this performance so much more telling, was the fact that he was facing the incumbent Springbok number nine, Cobus Reinach, and as his side did, beat his opponent hands down.

Unfortunately for Paige, he injured his knee in the second half and could spend some time on the side line. A real pity as Paige has been the form South African scrumhalf in the competition so far.
