Two tries against the Reds again proved that Bjorn Basson will be one of the best recruitments the Bulls have ever made.
The winger did have a lapse in concentration on defense, allowing the Reds to score a try, but immediately rectified it by scoring from the next kick-off, just before the break, to keep the Bulls in the game.
Basson ran hard from the kick-off, jumped high and plucked the ball away from three Reds defenders to score.
Even Reds coach, Ewen McKenzie commented on Basson's try during an interview at the break.
"Yes, that was pretty special, a great individual piece of brilliance," the coach said.
Basson again scored in the second half, after a delightful chip and chase, to bring his tally to five tries for the season and has already showed exactly why the Blue Bulls Company was prepared to pay Griquas a hefty transfer fee.
Basson, who grew up in the Border district of the Eastern Cape and attended Dale College, has risen through the ranks quickly since moving to Griquas in 2008.
He had a stellar year in 2010 and gained selection for the Springboks against Wales in June last year.
More is to come in the Bulls jersey, clearly
