There can be no doubt that the 21 year old winger from the Vodacom Bulls, Gerhard van den Heever, deserves this accolade after scoring the best try of the weekend.
Van den Heever blitzed the Lions with a 60 metre run in what has to be the Super Rugby try of the weekend, giving the Bulls the needed dominance early in the match.
"Every Bulls try is special. One is not worth more than the other to me, as they all contribute to the team effort," Van den Heever said.
The youngster became a folk hero at Loftus in his debut match when he almost tackled Luke Watson into the stands, but this try, his 10th in 18 matches, must have been his best?
"They are all special. It is nice to start the season like this, but it is my job to score tries, after all. We talked before the match about the chip kicks from Elton (Jantjies) and I was ready for that. When I started to run, the gaps kept opening up and I kept going," the speedster described his effort.
