It is always a big ask for any player to start in his first match for a team, especially if you have to run the cutter at fly half, but 21 year old Marnitz Boshoff took it all in his stride.
The former Nelspruit resident showed no nerves in his first starting performance in Currie Cup and delivered a solid performance against the Pumas in the Mbombela Stadium on Friday night.
Playing with another newcomer to the team, Jano Vermaak, the flyhalf combined well with his halfback partner.
Boshoff kicked well tactically and to the posts and managed to get his backline away with great speed. Vodacom Bulls and Blue Bulls kicking coach, Vlok Cilliers, punted the young fly half.
"He has got a good head on his shoulders. He is a natural kicker of the ball, but also works very hard on his kicking. It is a very good attribute," Cilliers said.
