Mornè Steyn

Mornè Steyn

A lot of things have been written about the Vodacom Bulls flyhalf in his career. Mostly good, but in the last year or so - also bad.

Over the hill, one dimensional and even too old was branded about by those with with very short memories on how the most prolific points’ machine in the game today won his country, his franchise and his provincial teams’ glory with his trusted right boot.

Well, Steyn silenced a lot of wannabees in the opening match of the 2013 Super Rugby competition with a faultless display of flyhalf play. He kicked no less than six penalties and a conversion for a personal tally of 20 points in their win over the DHL Stormers, but really impressed with the tactical display of his wide kicking range.

Banana peels, torpedo's, up and unders, flat kicks, deft chips - you name them and Steyn executed them in this display.

Whoever wrote him off in the past, will certainly have to have a honest look to themselves after this show of class.
