The junior team of the Vodacom Blue Bulls can, by beating their counterparts from the Golden Lions in the final of the Absa u.19 Cup at Coca Cola Park on Saturday, not only make sure that they are remembered as a great team, a couple of individual players can also stake a claim at national level.
The Vodacom Blue Bulls youngsters finished top of the log in regular competition with ease and won handsomely in their semifinal against the Free State last weekend. A lot of individual players also showed during the season that they will be serious contenders for the national u.20 side to be picked in 2012.
Success will depend on everyone playing together as a team though coach Paul Anthony said in announcing his team.
“We have beaten the Golden Lions twice this year in the league (43-24 and 37-25), so we know it can be done. The challenge will be for us to handle the pressures finals bring and to make sure we play as a team. If we play well as a team, the pattern is such that individuals will have a chance to express themselves.”
William Small-Smith leads the team.
