@lantic Invitation side selected for Dubai

A strong @lantic Invitation side was selected from the 200 schools that participated in the @lantic 7's series this year.

The exciting Branco du Preez (photo) from Harmony Sport Academy in Virginia, who as a schoolboy was selected for the Griffons Currie Cup side this year, was also included.

Three senior players have been invited to join the side which will be playing against senior opponents in the International Overseas competition in Dubai from 27 - 29 November. Former Springbok 7's player, Jovan Bowles will captain the team.

Last year the @lantic Invitation side won the amateur competition in Dubai. This year they will be facing semi-professional sides.

According to coach, Darryl Weir, his side is looking forward to the challenge of playing professional senior players. "There are incredible talented players in the squad and we are definitely working towards winning this competition as well" said Weir.

Two of the @lantic Invitation side players from last year, Danie Poolman and Gerhard van den Heever, were selected for the Springbok 7's squad this year. Van den Heever has also been included in the extended Bulls Super 14 squad for next year.

According to sport promoter, Willem Strauss, @lantic's contribution is assisting in developing stars for SA Rugby for the future. "In the last two years nearly 400 schools and 4000 players have been exposed to 7's rugby via the @lantic 7's series" said Strauss.

The team for Dubai is:

Jovan Bowles (Captain, Border)
Hoffman Maritz (Voortrekker HS, Bethlehem)
Danie Poolman (WP)
Brian Shabangu (Sharks Academy)
Piet Lindeque (Grey College)
Enrico Acker (Outeniqua, George)
Branco du Preez (Harmony Sport Academy, Virginia)
De Wet Molenaar (Ben Vorster, Tzaneen)
Tiaan Dorfling (Framesby, PE)
Christiano Swarts (Harmony Sport Academy, Virginia)
Jacques Erasmus (Brandwag HS)
