Steyn helps Vodacom Bulls along for sixth Super win

Eighteen points by fly half, Mornè Steyn, helped the Vodacom Bulls to a 28-15 victory over the Western Force in Perth on Saturday.

Although he missed four kicks to the poles, he succeeded with five to keep the Bulls undefeated in the Vodacom Super 14.

The Bulls were trailing 12-10 at the break and when James O’Connor kicked his fifth penalty to extend the lead to 15-10, the visitors started their fightback.

Tries by Steyn and Zane Kirchner secured the lead that was not be surrendered again. The victory is the sixth by the Bulls and their second in Perth.

With the win the Bulls secured their position on top of the log.

“We started the tour on the right note. We expected a tough Force side, as they are a proud team. It is a pity we could not get the bonus point for the fourth try, but the victory is the most important thing,” Bulls captain, Victor Matfield, said afterwards.

Scorers:

Vodacom Bulls 28 (10). Tries: Pierre Spies, Mornè Steyn, Zane Kirchner. Conversions: Steyn (2). Penalties: Steyn (3). Western Force 15 (12). Penalties: James O’ Connor (5).

. . moenie te veel wonder nie.

8. Hi Judge
I was at the game - not Brakpan. It was in Kempton - 10mins max from my house so I had to go. Entry was R30, kids free, so I took my stepson. Beers were R9 - fantastic. And it is an open air stadium, so I could smoke one of my cherry cigars. Lekker. The game was fantastic. Our first half was remarkable. We held a 45-0 lead right up to about 70 minutes. More BULLS than valke supporters. Brummer only played the last few minutes. Team was outstanding and faultless. And the heavens were on our sides: a few moments before the final siren, the drizzle started. By the end of the game, I was driving home in the rain. Next time I hope my wife can come so I can take advantage of those R9 beers.

My only complaint is the lack of a TV - we arrived at 1 and had to leave again to go watch the S14 game at the Keg down the road. But a good time, none the less.

10. Goeie wen BULLE, baie dankie!!

Ek hoop baie manne gaan vir oudisies by KKNK - ons kort onpartydige kommentators.

Baie dankie vir die harde werk BULLE!!!!

Ek is darem n oud jeugie.

12. Vir my is die irriterendste TV kommentator by vêrre Stransky.
