Matfield and Wannenburg claim honours
01 April 2010 (20:37)
Victor Matfield and Pedrie Wannenburg finally managed to beat Fourie du Preez and Danie Rossouw at golf, writes Org Strauss, the Vodacom Bulls team doctor in his tour diary…
Hi there everybody.
We had a great day in Auckland on Thursday. Some of the guys went to the movies at Imax and others tackled the golf course.
Victor and Pedrie finally managed to beat Fourie and Danie on the golf course. Apparently Victor was in great form and I am sure it will not be the last we have heard about this result.
Oom Wynie and Johann van Graan played with Paul Hodgson, the Sanzar travel coordinator for teams in the Super 14 and who lives in Auckland, and won the Two Nations Cup (see photo).
Friday is fairly low key, with a short video session and the captain’s run at Eden Park. It is normally a short, sharp session with the captain running the cutter.
The evening is normally a dinner in the team room, where lots of protein and pasta are served. Saturday’s meal before the game will consist of chicken, tuna and various starch like pan cakes and pasta.
The players are encouraged to hydrate themselves well and closer to the start of the match, additional supplements will be taken as per individual needs.
May all have a very blessed Easter and enjoy the rugby on Saturday.
It certainly is a honor to be involved with this team.
Bye for now,
Org.
