1. Go Bulletjies!
Goeie opwarming vir Saterdag!

Dankie

6. zet -

Craig Joubert wont referee the Sharks/Bulls game as he is a Natal boy, and I doubt Japhta or Legoete will get such a high profile game.

I would put money on it that the referee will be Mark Lawrence with Craig Joubert refereeing the game in Cape Town. Final will be Jonathan Kaplan.

How are you guys feeling ? Nervous ? Me too :-)

7. Webbie...., verwyder asb die dubbele post. Baie dankie.

8. Little Blue Bull - Oh well, there you go :-) That ends my speculation.

Marius Jonker loves to give cards though. I got a feeling neither of our teams will make it through the whole game without at least one yellow card. Could be vital periods of the game those...

9. Sharko, I should have taken a bet with you LOL. Nervous, no not really, but I do wish the Hadedas in my stomach would settle down!!!!

10. Little Blue Bull - You guys better just hope Bakkies doesn't decide to head butt someone in the opening movement of the game :-) I suppose he has learnt his lesson. :-)

How did you feel about how the Bulls Springboks performed against Griquas ? And do you think perhaps Griquas got too many points, a bit too easily ?
Posted by Sharko (Petoorsfontein) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 17:52
Posted by NETBLOU (Centurion) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 17:54
12. NETBLOU: So lank dit net nie Steve Walsh is nie :-) Hy is nie welkom in Durban nie.
Posted by Sharko (Petoorsfontein) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 17:58
13. #7 Sharko - nervous as hell... but quietly confident also...

14. Sien nou eers GvH man of week.

15. #13 Sharko - there will be no ref in Durbs during the CC final... you wanna know why?

hehehehehehe
Posted by zet (Pretoria) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 18:01
16. If Bakkies does that I shall personally have to head-butt him (or perhaps ask Big Vic to do the honours as I'm gonna look rather silly asking him to wait while I climb a ladder)
I think our guys were just trying to get back in the rythm of proper rugby after being conditioned out of it. Criquas are always a dangerous banana-peel team and I expected them to put up a good fight.

18. #11 I'm not too worried about the amount of points Griquas scored - they came out hard (as I suspected), and only scored alot of points when the game was done and dusted (the same happened a few weeks ago with them at Newlands)... Griquas is just below the top teams - and as soon as too many replacements come on, they are powerfull - but with the first choice 15 on - they weren't really a threat.

How concerned are you about your tight 5, 12&13 and who will you play at 10? I think the Sharks have more burning questions than the Bulls...

Also - how daft is it playing this game at 14:30 in DURBAN - the coolest place in SA... I think that might work in the Bulls favor - will be hard catching the slippery ball.... then again the Sharks love scoring from turnover ball.... and I'm afraid there will be many of that with the ball like a bar of soap - will be interesting...

19. Sharko.... I did post an answer to you ?, but it's not showing. Seem to have a problem this side and I am hesitant to post again cause my stuff keeps on coming up twice and I am starting to consider changing my nick to "Echo-Bull"

22. Our tight 5 will struggle abit because we are missing the best prop in SA this year steenkamp and add spies as well he is our main ball carrier.Dean Greyling has major problems with his binding and scrumming in general he is like the du plessis brithers a penalty machine.........The sharks front row will be ampt no doubt about it...........
Posted by Muzi (Johannesburg) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 18:16
23. Muzi - you are just refering to the scrums... and while I agree that Dean is struggling with his binding in the scrums, I also think that the tight5 is much more than just scrummaging... (vaste-los is what I'm referring to) and there Dean is excellent. Also line-out time - can we pressurise them at the line-outs?

As far as ball carrying - I think Danie needs to hold on to the ball (which will be doubly hard in Durbs) - but if he can, we have strong runners in Danie, Pottie and Dean... we need Kuun to step up like he did in Kimberley - his best game by far this season - we need to be good at breakdowns - the Sharks loosies are their strongpoint. I think that, with their counter attacking, are their only threats - and although those are HUGE threats - I do think that if the Bulls can avoid turnovers, (easier said than done) - the tight5 will be too hot for the Sharks to handle...
Posted by zet (Pretoria) Monday, October 11, 2010 - 18:23
24. PS: I don't think either Steggies or Pierre will be ready for a semi - even if their fit... but they would surely strengthen our bench!!!

26. Webbie

Ek wag in spanning.
Posted by Shannow Monday, October 11, 2010 - 18:35
27. zet - As far as the Sharks tight five go - they have a decent enough front row, but that is not enough to make a decent scrum. One needs strong locks for that as well. Hargreaves and Mostert seemed to struggle against WP, but with Steven Sykes in - things may improve.

Of course the Bulls have a potent set of locks with depth to burn - so, no problems in that department for them.

Apparently, the 2.30 kick off is to accommodate for extra time should it be needed but I agree - this is going to be one hot, humid afternoon. I remember living in Durbs, to take part in sport on a sweltering Durban afternoon is quite something because the air feels thick and not particularly well oxygenated.

The Sharks do love to attack off turnover ball, and I suppose they will be hoping that the greater percentage of their squad has come through an entire season practising and playing games in those conditions - so....

But, whatever happens, must happen. For me, I think the Bulls might be too strong for the Sharks with the experience of Victor and Bakkies back on the field.

29. #27 Sharko,

I agree that your locks would have to step-up if you want to compete in this game - and our loosies would have to do the same.

The backlines have completely different strong and weak points - our centre pair is better than yours. But your outside backs are more dangerous. 9/10's are almost equal - but Morne has BMT and Hougie is potent. Lambie still has to prove the hype in a big game and McCleod's a loose cannon - anything from very bad to very good can be expected from him. I do think your back-trio can be rattled under the high ball ... IF THE CHASING IS UP TO STANDARD... Mvovo hasn't been tested there and Ludik can't be classified as a rock.

Another concern for you must be Lambie's goal kicking - will he be on... will he be off? Who knows?

All-in-all there are many weak points in this Sharks team - but if the guys that are "supposedly" the weak points can lift their games - they will give the Bulls a run for their money. Being a home game will definitely help the Sharks - if this was at Loftus - there would be no contest... but in Durbs...mmmm.... 50/50.

PS: I know it's because of overtime that the game is 14:30 - but why didn't they swap the 2 semi's and played the one in CT (where it is alot cooler) at 14:30?? Ludicrous!!!
