Player of the Week: Flip van der Merwe
10 March 2011

There can be no doubt that Flip van der Merwe’s introduction to the game in the 50th minute impacted on the comeback effort of the Bulls against the Highlanders.

Van der Merwe scored only his second Super try seven minutes after replacing Danie Rossouw and proved a handful with his powerful drives after that.

It certainly was not Van der Merwe’s fault that the Bulls did not pull this one through. He was exceptional.

He carried the ball eight times for 54 meters, made four tackles and cleaned 15 rucks during his time on the field.
