Player of the Week - Willie Wepener
17 September 2012

It was such a disappointing weekend for the various Vodacom Blue Bulls rugby teams, but one player who showed what guts and commitment really means, was hooker Willie Wepener.

The Blue Bulls hooker never gave up in Kimberley and showed that although experience comes with time, it means nothing if there is not passion behind it.

Wepener flew into the Griquas team with bone-crushing tackles, ran hard when in possession and was rewarded with a try at an important stage of the match, as the Blue Bulls were starting to offer some fightback after a very slow start.

His play in the tight phases was excellent and his aggressive attitude in general play was sadly not shown by the rest of the pack.
