There are a few things that have to be said about Dewald Potgieter’s performance against The Sharks on Friday night.
The Blue Bulls skipper decided that the only way his side was going to upset the home side in Durban was for them to follow him. He did everything he could. He carried the ball with great conviction, he tackled as if it was his last game of rugby ever, he motivated, he stole ball in the rucks. He was also denied by the TMO in what could (and should) have been the match winning try.
Unfortunately the team came just short, but don’t blame the captain for that. Not too long ago he was spoken of as a possible Springbok captain in future. After his performance in Durban, those talks will start up again soon.
