TC Losper

TC Losper is along with Zane Kirchner and Tiger Mangweni one of the three newly recruited fullbacks who will compete for the Vodacom Bulls' number 15-jersey.

Tertuis-Claude was born on 22 November 1985 in Windhoek and as a 5 year-old he started to play what was called "Tjokker-rugby".

His father Sarel was a legendary rugby player who has played in more than a 100 matches for Suid-Wes (Namibia) between 1982 and 1990. When TC was 10 years old he started to play flyhalf for Emma Hoogenhout Primary and in standerd six and seven at HTS Windhoek he was moved to scrumhalf.

"In standerd 8 I only managed to play third team but in the last two years of high school I played fullback as well as flyhalf for the first team.

"I was selected to play Craven Week rugby for Namibia in 2004 but I got noticed earlier that year by the guys at the Griquas Academy after I landed a 70m penalty. That kick was in quite a number of newspapers and it sort of gave me the necessary publicity to follow a career in rugby.

"In 2005 I enrolled at the Griquas Rugby Academy and stayed there till 2007. In April of 2007 I was called up to play for Namibia at the World Cup in France and that was truly a remarkable experience.

"I played fullback against Ireland for the whole 80 minutes (Ireland won 32-18) but I could only play 10 minutes against France.

"I injured a quadricep-muscle after 10 minutes against France, but in spite of the injury it was a very memorable match. The atmosphere was fantastic and because of the noise I could not even hear myself or my teammates.

"After the game men like Chabal and Michalak said I played well, but the injury placed me on the sidelines for four months."

Losper played his first game for the Bulls on Thursday24 January against the Valke and he is keen to push for a place in the Super 14 squad.

"It was a very easy decision to come to the Bulls because ever since I can remember my mother and I supported Northern-Transvaal but my dad Sarel was always a Transvaler."
