People travelling in Kirkness Street behind the Loftus Versfeld grand stand would have noticed a lot of building activity on the corner of Lynnwood Road where the blue gum trees used to stand next to the B-field.
This building is all part of the plan of bringing Loftus even more up to world standards.
A big gimnasium with a swimming pool will be built for the players, where they can do all their off-field preparation. There will also be a Vodashop and a restaurant/bar, very much like Rhapsody's in Menlyn, where many Bulls victories will no doubt be celebrated in future.
On the other side of the outside fields there was also a lot of building activity. The Academy was set up next tot the D-field, where a lot of the younger Bulls players will stay.
Up to 26 players can share in the 13 double rooms where they will stay together a stone's throw from Loftus. These include all the players who used to stay at the HPC at Tuks, guys like Chiliboy Ralepelle, Danwel Demas and Emile Verster.
It's like a koshuis, but every room has it's own bathroom, so there is no queueing to get into the shower.
The academy also has a big lounge/dining room with an open plan kitchen, where the players can cook their own meals. However, as they do get fed at Loftus during the days, don't expect too many cuisine meals to be whipped up here.
The guys will probably spend most of their free time at the braai next to the house. As they say, boys will be boys.
