Regular Currie Cup players, Gehard van den Heever, Francois Brummer, Rossouw de Klerk and CJ Stander have been included in the Vodacom Blue Bulls u.21 side to play their Western Province counterparts in the final of the Absa u.21 Cup in Durban on Saturday.
Van den Heever and De Klerk played for the Vodacom Blue Bulls at the same venue two weeks ago in the semi-finals of the Absa Currie Cup and will hope to have a better result with their age group mates this time round.
Brummer and Stander have both played in the semi-final clash against the Natal u.21-side in Pretoria two weeks ago and will be looking for a repeat performance over coastal opponents.
The Blue Bulls side lost both their league fixtures against Western Province, but coach, Nico Serfontein, is backing his team to win the title.
“We are playing against a very good side, but we know that and have prepared well. The likes of Van den Heever and Brummer do bring some experience and added class to the team. We need to execute well and if we play to our potential, we will have a great chance to achieve something special.”
A return to full fitness by Adri Jacobs and AJ le Roux allowed Serfontein to pick his strongest available team for the final.
The Vodacom Blue Bulls u.21 team to play Western Province in the final of the Absa u.21 Cup on Saturday 30 October 2010 in Durban is:
Andries Coetzee, Sampie Mastriet, Adri Jacobs, Francois Brummer, Gerhard van den Heever, Marnitz Boshoff (c), Danie Faasen, Jono Ross, Marnus Schoeman, CJ Stander, Cornell Hess, Andries Ferreira, Rossouw de Klerk, AJ le Roux, Morné Mellett.
