The Cheetahs and Vodacom Bulls will both be looking to bounce back from opening round defeats when they meet in Bloemfontein on Friday night.
The Cheetahs were well fancied to see off the Lions but having looked likely to ease clear on a couple of occasions they failed to convert try scoring chances and also missed a couple of straight forward penalties that would have put their opponents to bed. They showed intent to run the visitors off their feet but they failed to get the necessary dominance upfront and were ultimately undone by a last minute drop goal. The loss has put enormous pressure on coach Naka Drotske and his team and a 2nd successive home defeat would see the franchise thrown into crisis ahead of their overseas tour.
The Vodacom Bulls are also coming off a loss although they at least started underdogs to the Sharks in Durban. Still it was a concern that possession was given up too lightly and set piece errors coupled with a lack of creativity saw them well beaten on the day. Like the Cheetahs, the Bulls do not want to contemplate going 0 for 2 and you can bet that plenty of work will be done on the training park to ensure the side are 100% ready come kickoff.
Head to Head
2013: Cheetahs 25 Bulls 30
2013: Bulls 26 Cheetahs 20
2012: Bulls 40 Cheetahs 24
2012: Cheetahs 19 Bulls 51
2011: Bulls 32 Cheetahs 21
2011: Cheetahs 23 Bulls 25
The Bulls have won all 11 Vodacom Super Rugby meetings between the sides.
It may only be week 2 of the season but for these sides there is already plenty at stake. The Vodacom Bulls will want to start a run of home games with some points in the bank but despite a great record against the Cheetahs they know it won’t be easy.
The Vodacom Bulls will be hoping for better conditions than what they experienced in Durban and assuming we have a dry night in Bloemfontein the relative high scoring nature of previous fixtures can be expected to affect the Rugby Betting.
This will be a tough match and the lead will change hands on a number of occasions but the Vodacom Bulls should make it 12 wins from 12 against the Cheetahs in Super Rugby.
