Vodacom Bulls off to Zimbabwe for training camp
The Vodacom Bulls training squad for the 2016 Vodacom Super Rugby departed to Zimbabwe on Friday for a training camp and a match against the Toyota Cheetahs in Harare on Saturday 6 February.
The squad will use the next couple of days for team building and hard work on the training field, according to Vodacom Bulls coach Nollis Marais.
"We are taking a fairly big squad, as we want to involve a couple of younger players to our team culture and expose them to our patterns," Marais said. "This is a great opportunity for us to really focus on our rugby objectives and I am keen to get started. The match against the Cheetahs next week will be a good opportunity for us to get the season started."
The High Performance Manager of the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd, Xander Janse van Rensburg, said the decision to have the training camp and match in Zimbabwe is part of a broader strategy.
"We want to grow the game of rugby and extend our footprint into Africa. This trip is the ideal opportunity to do that," Janse van Rensburg said.
The training squad is:
Nic De Jager
Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg
Ivan Van Zyl
Piet Van Zyl
Marcel van der Merwe
