Vodacom Bulls coach, Nollis Marais, made minimal changes to the squad that did battle successfully against the DHL Stormers last week, to take on an in-form Emirates Lions team in yet another massive local derby. Travis Ismaiel was withdrawn from the team due to personal commitments, and will be replaced by Bjorn Basson. Hooker Bandise Maku also comes in on the bench in place of Jaco Visagie in a straight switch.
The Vodacom Bulls team to face the Emirates Lions on Saturday 28 May at Loftus Versfeld:
15 SP Marais
14 Jamba Ulengo
13 Jesse Kriel
12 Jan Serfontein
11 Bjorn Basson
10 Francois Brummer
9 Piet van Zyl
8 Arno Botha
7 Jannes Kirsten
6 Lappies Labuschagne
5 RG Snyman
4 Jason Jenkins
3 Marcel vd Merwe
2 Adriaan Strauss (C )
1 Lizo Gqoboka
16 Bandise Maku
17 Trevor Nyakane
18 Pierre Schoeman
19 Grant Hattingh
20 Deon Stegmann
21 Rudy Paige
22 Tian Schoeman
23 Dries Swanepoel
Maybe could've had Renaldo Bothma and Roelof Smit on the bench instead of Hattingh and Steggies, but I guess they bring solid experience off the bench...
I think we can beat the Lions. We're at home, guys are confident and would've taken a lot from the Stormers game.
Good luck boys!!
Sterkte Bulle
HOU BY DIE BLOU
Go Bulls.
Good luck Bulle
Surely, if Roelof considers that Lappies is leaving the Bulls at the end of this season, then surely he'll be the openside in the inside lane. Maybe absorb as much knowledge as you can from the likes of Steggies and Lappies, together with a solid Currie Cup season and he'll be good to go in 2017.
Others like Bothma and Jackpot, will get their opportunities in future...
He used to penalise our scrum quite a bit in the apst, but that's ofcourse when we had the wonderful Dean Greyling at loosehead
Dis belaglik.
Go BULLE go !!!
And Slim182, as Bloukaap has pointed out earlier - Nicolas van Rensburg has been on and off the bench since 2014. He was ignored by Ludeke in 2015 and then shoved to the u21's in the CC of 2015. In 2016 he was selected on the bench twice and then kicked into the stupid and no logical CC competition, because the Bulls actually prefer the much overrated Marvin Ori. If I am working for a company and they use me and throw me around and then forget me and then use me again, I will start looking for a new company. The Bulls buy a lot of young guys and then keep them in the system for what? And secondly, expect a lot of young white players to leave the country because of the racist and degrading policies of the ANC and the Bulls are playing second fiddle and dance to the music. If I am a white player - I would also seriously consider leaving SA and make decent money overseas, like Richardt Strauss, Quinn Roux and CJ Stander.
Muzi, Orie was also impressive in last year's CC only to fade away half way. He had a decent game against the Force and then went flat against the Brumbies. Not really that impressive at all. once the competition gets tough he tends to be over shadowed, which explains why Jake White did not rate him but rather went for van Rensburg.
I just showed the more hungry team will win tomorrow. Waratahs took the Chiefs to cleaners in the second half, and that Chiefs side played good rugby. Hurricanes beat a well drilled defensive Highlanders side this morning.
Hope our Bulls are firmly on the ground and will take the game to the Lions. Marnitz Boshoff is a bit of a dark horse for me, haven't seen him in action at all this season.
And then you have idiotic statements like SLIM182 - should read DOM182.
Wiaan Liebenberg did not even get a Super 15 contract from BBR - he has been MoM 5 times for Montpellier - Jono Ross the most hated forward in BB history has just extended his contract for 5 years at Stade Francais - Paul Willemse the most admired lock in the French league was on the bench and would now play second fiddle to Orie. The list goes on and on. Why on earth would a youngster with potential like Nicholas stay? It is clear he is 5 or 6 in the lock pecking order. Like Rohan JvR who is now invaluable for the Lions or Francois Venter for the Cheetahs.
