Blue Bulls topple EP Kings
The Vodacom Blue Bulls scored seven tries to beat the Eastern Province Kings 49-35 (halftime 28-25) in their Currie Cup match at Loftus Versfeld on Friday evening.
The EP Kings scored two quick tries through hooker Michael Willemse and outside centre Berton Klaasen to open their account.
Flyhalf Tian Schoeman scored the home side's first try in the 12th minute while flank Jannes Kirsten and wing Bjorn Basson scored tries of their own as the Blue Bulls started to find some attacking rhythm.
EP cut the deficit to three points as fullback Johan Tromp scored a try as the first half came to an end.
Wing Siviwe Soyizwapi pulled back a try for the visitors after the second half resumed but the Blue Bulls responded with tries to Burger Odendaal and Ulengo.
It was the bench who would have the final say of the match as replacement hooker Martin Bezuidenhout scored EP's sixth try while utility back Joshua Stander scored the final try of the match as the Blue Bulls pulled off an unconvincing win at Loftus Versfeld.

Basson moet heelagter toe skuif.
Seems like communication is a problem up front for the bulls, between hooker and locks and the messy kick offs is only a symptom of this. Our front rowers are scrumming well and so the bench front rowers as well.
In the back line our half backs are not firing at all and the new midfield combo's each week doesn't help at all. Also looks like the Bulls new open playing style creates a lot of opportunities but we struggle to get back on defense. Looks like players are waiting for attacking opponents to go to ground and cretae too many holes in our defense. Stander will not be the answer at 13 - we need to give the youngbguns a chance there. Duncan Mathews did not look smart enough to create counter attacks but at least he was in position this week, unlike Beyers in Bloem. It will be a tough ask to beat the Sharks in Durban in current form.
At least the Lions and WP lost today, improving our chances to reach the play offs.

My magtig, genoeg is genoeg.
Mooi week verder, mense.
Groete,
Wayne
Ek sal dophou wanneer Van Graan en kie weg is voor ek weer belang gaan stel

The core of the poor CC rugby is to be found in Super Sport and SARU.
SARU was warned last year that they are creating a very low standard Currie Cup format when the ne Super 18 was introduced. SARU did not clinch a deal with a main spinsor up until the end of May for the CC. They were caught in a stranglehold over Jurie Roux's position and the appointment of the new Bok cach and saving EP rugby - who themselves were saved by their municipality.
SARU got rid of the Vodacom Cup and saw to it that the Varcity Cup was degraded to neutral stadiums with very few support. In place of the Vodacom Cup SARU then came up with this wonderful "qualifying" Currie Cup format.
So what did Super Sport do? Well SS decided they were going to showcase the major clashes at 17h on a Friday afternoon. Commentators are being forced to sugar coat a competition with a mixture of great postive and marketing jargon.
Given the facts above - if you are a talented rugby player in SA - what on earth is going to motivate you to perform 100% or keep you from rather playing overseas.
And then, Loftus. The poor crowd attendance is a worrying factor. But the rugby public in Pretoria is gatvol for forced racial politics, mediocre competition and a Bulls rugby team that struggles every week. Paying so much money for what? Rather stay at home, braai and support the Bulls from your living room. And the last crap was when we read in the papers last week that the Bulls marketing promotor wants to scrap Steve Hofmeyer's song. Its little stupid issues like these that makes supporters say: wtf has this to do with rugby?
Lastly, But poor crowd attendance is happening everywhere - even when the Bokke played on Saturday. SA rugby has created a little monster and they have to act strategically very wise if they want to turn around the face f rugby in SA.
