Fit-again Handré Pollard and Dries Swanepoel will boost the Vodacom Blue Bulls team to play the Hino Valke in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge in Kempton Park on Friday, with both players being named in the starting team for the Barnard Stadium clash.

Coach Pote Human named Pollard at flyhalf and Swanepoel at inside centre for this important match, one that the Vodacom Blue Bulls need to win to stay in the top two of the North Section log.

Pollard and Swanepoel picked up injuries earlier in the season while playing for the Vodacom Bulls in the Vodacom Super Rugby tournament and replace Tinus de Beer and Divan Rossouw respectively, who both drop to the bench. Rabs Maxwane is also fit again following his concussion and will play on the wing.

Human was pleased to have the players available.

“They are proven players and will no doubt bring some class to our effort. Having just returned from injury, one should not expect miracles, but they trained well and I am looking forward to the match. The Valke gave us a hard time in round one and will be tough, especially at home. We will need to play to our strengths and make sure we use our opportunities.”

The team is: Duncan Matthews, Rabs Maxwane, Dries Swanepoel, Franco Naude, Kefentse Mahlo, Handré Pollard, Andre Warner, Clyde Davids, Boom Prinsloo, Shaun Adendorff, Aston Fortuin, Abongile Nonkontwana (c), John-Roy Jenkinson, Alandre van Rooyen, Andrew Beerwinkel.

Replacements: Jan-Henning Campher, Njuabula Gumede, Marius Verwey, Marco van Staden, Theo Maree, Tinus de Beer, Divan Rossouw.
