It is almost like being re-introduced with a brother that has been overseas for a while – as it has been such a long time since try-scoring ace Bjorn Basson dotted down for the Vodacom Bulls.
The point’s machine after all holds not only the South African and Absa Currie Cup records for tries in a season, he is also the Vodacom Bulls record holder for tries in a Super Rugby season. For him to experience a try drought was almost unheard off, so his five pointer against The Sharks came as a great relief. It was their 15th match, after all.
“A couple of my tries were cancelled due to TMO recalls and forward passes earlier in the movement, so it was a bit frustrating. I hope me scoring tries at test level will start a new try cycle for me,” Basson said recently, after he scored two tries in three test matches in the Castle Lager Incoming Series.
It was indeed the case and comes at an opportune time for the Bulls
