Blommetjies was the outstanding back in the 2012 Varsity Cup and after good performances in the Under-19 and Under-21 sides of the Blue Bulls, make his presence felt in Currie Cup rugby in 2012. He again starred in the Varsity Cup and will look at 2013's Currie Cup tournament as one to break into Super Rugby in 2014
